Privacy Policy

Overview

ActiveNerve ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how our mobile applications collect, use, and store information. Our apps are designed with a privacy-first philosophy: your data stays on your device, and we do not operate any backend servers that receive or store your personal information.

Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use, our apps may collect the following information on your device:

  • Location data: GPS coordinates are collected at the time you initiate a report, solely to identify the location of the issue you are reporting. This data is stored locally on your device and used only to pre-fill address fields in the relevant municipal reporting form.
  • Voice input: When you use voice features, audio is processed on-device using your operating system's built-in speech recognition. We do not record, transmit, or store raw audio.
  • Report history: Details of reports you have submitted (date, time, address, issue type) are stored locally on your device using your device's secure local storage (AsyncStorage). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not create or require user accounts.
  • We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personally identifiable information.
  • We do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking libraries.
  • We do not transmit any data to ActiveNerve servers — we do not operate any.

Third-Party Services

Our apps interact with the following third-party services on your behalf:

  • City of Toronto 311 Service: When you submit a report, the app opens the City of Toronto's public 311 web form and automatically fills in your report details. This interaction is governed by the City of Toronto's own privacy policy and terms of service. We have no affiliation with or endorsement from the City of Toronto.
  • Toronto Geocoder API: To resolve street addresses from GPS coordinates, the app queries the City of Toronto's public geocoder (map.toronto.ca/cotgeocoder). No personally identifiable information is sent in these requests.
  • Operating System Speech Recognition: Voice input is handled entirely by your device's built-in speech recognition (Apple or Google). Please refer to Apple's or Google's privacy policies for details on how they handle speech data.

Data Storage and Retention

All report history and app preferences are stored locally on your device. You can delete this data at any time by clearing the app's data in your device settings or by uninstalling the app. We have no ability to access, retrieve, or recover locally stored data.

Children's Privacy

Our apps are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through our apps, please contact us and we will address the matter promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our apps after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
